Scientific Consultant |
Prof. Gabriel Tojo Professor Titular in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at Department of Organic
Chemistry in the Royal University of Santiago de Compostela, SPAIN. He has
professional experience of more than 20 years in research in Synthetic Organic
Chemistry. He worked as a guest researcher, at the research centre, of the
Upjohn Company (now Pharmacia and Upjohn) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the preparation
of analogs of the antitumor agent Adozelesine. He developed for the Pharma
Mar company the scaling-up of the first steps in the preparation of the
antitumor agent Ecteinascidin 743, and provided technical advice for the
total synthesis of about 50 steps, which was previously done on a very small
scale by E.J.Corey, who also offered technical advice. He was at the origin
of the preparation of the antitumor agent Prodozelesine, which is protected
by several international patents and shows very promising "in vivo" activity.
He is a prominent participant in the Internet newsgroups sci.chem and
sci.chem.organic.synthesis, offering free technical in Organic Synthesis to
the international community.
